Did We Really Need a Remake for ‘Fatal Attraction’?
Can Lizzy Caplan step into Glenn Close’s footsteps or is Paramount about to wreck one of its classics?
So, one of our all-time favorites, Fatal Attraction (1987, dir. Adrian Lyne), is getting a remake into Paramount+ in less than a month, exactly 27 days from now. And it has the same logo and a very similar elevator scene as per the promotional poster.
In the understanding that some centennial and even millennial generations are not familiar with the original movie, it’s only fair to make a remake so that this cautionary tale could follow into posterity. But was this the best election for the cast?
We have seen Lizzy Caplan in Mean Girls (2004, dir. Mark Waters), Bachelorette (2012, dir. Leslye Headland), and hit series like Masters of Sex (2013–2016) and Castle Rock (2018–2019). She is an amazing actress, no doubt. However, I have a hunch that a character like Alex Forrest was only made to fit Glenn Close, even when new generations had to see the original movie and feel a bit odd with the broken pixels on the screen.
Anyway, looking to figure it out on April 30!
